The Best Vietnam War Quote
"The first week back, I was the best man in a
wedding, and I had a Vietnam War veteran come up to me, and he handed me $50 and
said, 'Take your wife out to dinner. I appreciate what you did. We didn't get
the welcome we deserved when we got back, and I don't want that to happen to
you; I want you to go out and enjoy yourself.'"

Washington Post - Quotes From the Soldiers
Sunday, May 14, 2006
The Vietnam War was fought between the
communist forces of the Democratic Republic of Vietnam and the National Front
for the Liberation of South Vietnam and their allies the Republic of China and
the Soviet Union against the anti-communist forces if the Republic of Vietnam
and its allies, most notably the United States. The war was fought in order to
unify Vietnam into a single country. The Vietnam War consisted of guerilla
attacks on cities and villages in Southeast Asia also; large-scale conventional
battles, aerial bombings and chemical warfare all played a large part in the
war. The Vietnam War lasted from 1959 until 1975. The war ended with a peace
treaty in 1973 that provided the United States disengagement. In the end the
Vietnam War was a political defeat for the United States and a military victory
for the Democratic Republic of Vietnam over the Republic of Vietnam. Finally the
reunification of Vietnam was the end result.
