Route 66, the well-known road also known as “The Mother Road” and “The Main Street of America” was officially opened on November 11, 1926. Throughout the 1930s, Route 66 was the major path for people moving west. The original starting point of Route 66 was at Buckingham Fountain in Chicago, Illinois and Route 66 traveled through parts of Missouri, Kansas, Oklahoma, Texas, New Mexico, Arizona and then ending in Las Angeles, California.
