An unusual fact about Kent State is the black squirrels that can be found on Kent State’s main campus that were brought to the campus by a Canadian groundskeeper. There are many memorable traditions at Kent State such as sunbathing on the roof of Lake Hall and painting the rock on campus, which is always painted at night to be revealed to students the following day. The Kent State school mascot is the Golden Flashes, which was adopted when the school mascot became a Golden Retriever in 1951.
