The Kiss by artist Gustav Klimt is the theme on this wall tapestry from the early 1900's. Picturesque and striking, woven with gold glitter fleck throughout. The Kiss fine art tapestry measures 29" x 52", lined, fabric content cotton and polyester. Reverse side has a three inch rod pocket for hanging.

Gustav Klimt is an Austrian symbolist painter that was born in 1862 in Austria and died in 1918. Gustav Klimt’s works of art include; painting, murals and sketches. Today many of Klimt’s works are displayed at the Vienna Secession gallery. In most of Gustav Klimt’s works of art, he focused and used the female body as his primary subject and many of his works border on eroticism and many believed that his works reached that point. Gustav Klimt began his professional career by painting interior murals in large public buildings. Gustav Klimt was an honorary member of the Universities of Munich and Vienna. The last public commissioned work by Gustav Klimt was three paintings on the ceiling of the Great Hall at the University of Vienna. The three paintings were Philosophy, Medicine and Jurisprudence; all three of Klimt’s paintings were destroyed in 1945 by retreating German SS forces. Since Gustav Klimt’s death he and his artwork have influenced and continue to influence many famous artists.
