English Setters were developed in France in 1500 when originally crossing a Spanish pointer and English pointer, 3 centuries later the mix was brought to Great Britain where Sir Edward Laverack, an intelligent breeder developed this excellent hunting dog. English Setter’s have been bred for and are talented in hunting, tracking, watch dogging, retrieving, pointing and agility. Today English Setters are popular as family and companion dogs.
