The Chihuahua is a tiny breed and the smallest breed in the world and the oldest breed on the American continent and can be most recognized for its role as the “Taco Bell dog”.  This breed has an apple shaped head, short coat that can be fawn, sand, chestnut or silver and steel blue in color.  A Chihuahua is usually about 2-6lbs and 6-9 inches in height.  Chihuahuas are great companion dogs, courageous, lively, and bold and is swift moving to avoid being stepped on.  This breed becomes very attached to its owner and become very jealous, they will follow their owner’s every move, especially if there are stranger’s in the immediate company.  Chihuahua are known to love licking the face of their owner, they enjoy walks although do not need much exercise, they dislike the cold weather and a warm sweater would be good for them in the colder months.  It is important that Chihuahuas are socialized as pups as they are not as friendly with other breeds as hey are with their own.  Chihuahuas are native to Mexico and are named after the Mexican state Chihuahua where they were brought by travelers from Europe.  Chihuahuas were originally introduced b the Chinese.  This breed is also sacred to the Pre-Columbian Indian nations.
