The University of Central Florida’s original enrollment was 1, 948 students and last fall there was an enrollment of 45, 090 students. The University of Central Florida is one of Florida’s eleven public universities. Dr. Trevor Colbourn was the second president of the University and he changed the name to, the University of Central Florida to better reflect a growing institution that had more to offer than just a technological associated education. Colbourn also began the football program and the band. The University of Central Florida is located in Orlando, Florida. In the summer of 1970, the students of The University of Central Florida voted to determine the school mascot; in December of 1970 the results were in and the voters had chosen the Knight of Pegasus for their school mascot. In 1993, the Athletic Director Steve Sloan changed the Golden Knights and that became the official mascot who is always seen dressed in full armor.
