The Boxer is a breed that is powerful, muscular, athletic and has a square body.  Its coat is short and comes in fawn, bridle, white and various shades of red with white markings.  Most owners and breeders dock the tail and some crop the ears.  The Boxer breed is very quick to learn new things and tricks and they are very obedient and smart.  With their happy temperament they have a lot of energy and are in high spirits.  Boxer’s love to play and they are known for being great with children, which makes them quick to bond with a family and a great family dog.  When well trained, Boxers get along with other house pets and other dogs.  It is a must that Boxer’s receive a daily workout and exercise and they absolutely love to jump through hoops and over sticks, whatever lets them show off their talent.   The name Boxer came from its regular use of it s front paws for everything and because of their punchy fighting style.  The ancestor of the Boxer are two German mastiff types that were then later crossed with a Bulldog and a Mastiff.  Today Boxers are used as companions and family dogs, for search and rescue, military work, police work and watchdogging.
